It is truly shocking to see the difference in cultures across the world and what they deem acceptable or taboo.
In fact, I have to chuckle to myself whenever someone asks me to give a “biblical” perspective on dating.
Not only is there nothing said about the topic, but the concept of dating didn’t even exist in biblical times.
The statement under George Smith declared, "It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord, on which is founded the doctrine of the Church from the days of its organization, to the effect that Negroes may become members of the Church but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time." The statement further explained that conduct in the premortal existence caused some children of God to be "cursed with a skin of blackness" as the "seed of Cain" and to be denied the priesthood.
Though the church had an open membership policy for all races, they avoided opening missions in areas with large black populations and discouraged people with black ancestry from investigating the church.
Type the word “dating” into your bible search tool and what comes up? When I was single, I remember wishing there was an entire book of the bible dedicated to the topic, or at least even a chapter.
But though Scriptures are filled with foundational life-changing truths, there are still some topics that are left untouched when it comes to finding a biblical perspective.
