If the data coming back from the DB doesn't have a date for this field, I get a 'Specified Cast is Invalid' message when the empty string is being bound to the Selected Value of the Calendar control. What I need to do (I think), is somehow intercept the process so that if I have a DB date that is null, I can tell the Calendar control to use it's default value of '1/1/0001 AM' for the Selected Value property when going into edit mode.
In the Row Editing event I was able to determine that the Label control (Item Template) for the date column was an empty string.
Next Select your database and Set “Save Entity connection string in Web.config as” option true giving name Sample Entities.
Select Both Category and Customer tables Give Model Namespace and click on Finish. NET Gridview Footer row for inserting record, inbuilt way to edit and delete records.
The Grid View 'Grid View1' fired event Sorting which wasn't handled.
The Grid View 'Grid View1' fired event Row Deleting which wasn't handled. When I say manually databinding I mean not using a data source control specified as a Data Source ID, but rather setting the Grid View’s Data Source equal to the appropriate data object and calling Data Bind. NET 2.0 are familiar with how to deal with this, but since ASP.
This article explains how to perform insert, update and delete operations in ASP. Let us take an example to perform CRUD operations using Entity Framework Database First approach.
Suppose we’ve to work on Customer table having Category ID as foreign key.
Net Grid View control populated from the Customers table of Northwind database.
It displays 2 columns Contact Name and City of which city is editable via ASP. The identifier column Customer Id is bind to the Data Key Names property.
If we could have accessed the Bind method ,that implicitly performs two-way binding, in the code-behind then we could have just override the Row Databound event and assigned the value to the gridview's checkbox control using the Bind method.
But unfortunately the Bind is not available in ASP. We could still achieve this in two simple and easy steps. Wrap the Eval(fieldname) HTML code in a function eg: Checkvalue that checks the datafield value, performs transformations to True OR False values and assigns to Chekced property. Override the Row Updating event of gridview and update only the Checked property's value since the SQLData Source that is bound to gridview will take care of remaining fields to update.
NET forums is how to deal with exceptions like The Grid View 'Grid View1' fired event Row Editing which wasn't handled.
