Before the Fender Squier series were introduced in 1982, Fender were making lower priced guitars such as the Fender Lead series at their Fullerton California plant.Until the introduction of the Fender Squier series, Fender had never produced lower priced guitars based on their main Stratocaster and Telecaster designs and had always used different model designs for their lower priced guitars. This piece of wood could sit a couple years before its pulled from stock and machined into a neck that's how it ends up in a guitar assembled from 1968 until 1971.
After hours of research the neck date does not mean the assembly into a guitar date.
My necks dated jan 67 the mounting plate numbers are 1970 and on the back of the neck that mounts in the pocket there is a F with the number 71 under the bottom horizontal line of the F so I believe all these various parts used on a 1971 guitar could of been made over a 4 year period.

Please note that fender serial numbers tend to overlap by at least a year, and thereby the date of your guitar can only be approximated.
Hi Jek, Start by checking the serial number, here is a basic guide for you, once having established the serial number, post it and we will tell you if its genuine.
It would not be "all original" and you would maybe have to have a more solid colour finish, but would be closer to "original" than an aftermarket body. I believe when they create the rough piece of wood they date it and number it for the guitar it's to be used on.
