Standard tables validating data fields

You can define validation rules for table fields and for controls on forms. When you define rules for tables, those rules apply when you import data.

On TPM-biopsy, 408 (71%) of 576 men had cancer with 230 (40%) of 576 patients clinically significant.

This article explains how to use validation rules and validation text in table fields and form controls.

Data types are not optional, and provide the most basic type of data validation.

For more information about data types, field sizes, and input masks, see the article Introduction to data types and field properties.

When data is entered, Access checks to see whether the input breaks a validation rule – if so, the input is not accepted, and Access displays a message.

Access provides a number of ways to restrict input: You can use these methods of validating data alone or in combination with each other.

You can apply constraints on an instance by adding validation keywords to the schema.

For example, the “type” keyword can be used to restrict an instance to an object, array, string, number, boolean, or null: JSON Schema is hypermedia ready, and ideal for annotating your existing JSON-based HTTP API.

This document outlines a data model, or infoset, for tabular data and metadata about that tabular data that can be used as a basis for validation, display, or creating other formats.
