Do you remember back in July when I asked for your opinions on what laminate kitchen countertops we should go with?If not, here’s the post where I showed three Photoshopped options and asked you to vote for your favorite.
In case you forgot, this is what the countertops looked like before. If we shelled out the big bucks for stone countertops we wouldn’t see a great return on investment when we eventually sell this house. Our new laminate kitchen countertops set us back $1,400 (that includes the cost of the countertops, removal of the old, and installation of the new), but keep in mind that we have a lot of countertop space in our kitchen.
Plain vanilla countertops– they were here when we bought the house almost 6 years ago. We went with Formica Argento Romano laminate with an etching finish. About 55 square feet of countertop space to be exact.
You can check out my post on them here, but I will be sharing more reveal posts on them soon!
Back upstairs, they finished the ceilings, and I could lay on the floor and stare at them all day. It looks really dark in these photos becuase its raining out, but they are going to get a light grout which will lighten it all up a lot. You may remember it from our old sunroom, I loved this flooring so much I had to go for it again. I love the white and grey tones with the pale blue walls in my daughter’s room.
SO much has been going on at the house this week, I don’t even know where to start! First up, the paint is almost done and I’m loving the colors (you can see them all here). I will find out and tell you when I share the final reveal pics I talked about my kitchen plans changing a little bit last week – it’s not a huge change, but I nixed all the butcher block counters. We could not find a wood that looked good with our wood floors.
This is the mudroom blue: and our master bath and bedroom grayish, greenish, blueish color (so dark in this photo, but gorgeous in person! I haven’t shown the cabinets painted in here, they are the same deep blue as our kitchen island. Speaking of countertops, the kitchen counters also got installed and I love them! The guys didn’t want to stain it, because it wouldn’t be food safe without using a sealer that would make the finish glossy.
Lake|Flato designed the kitchen’s cabinetry, steel hood, and island; the range and refrigerator are by Viking, and the stools are by BDDW.
Gilles Mendel's New York kitchen, designed by architect David Mann, includes a Sicis mosaic-tile backsplash, a Samsung ultrathin LED television, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator with bespoke lacquer panels.
Alex Rodriguez and his daughters, Natasha (left) and Ella, gather in their Coral Gables, Florida, kitchen.
The matte-finish oak cabinetry by Italkraft is complemented by gleaming tile; the sink fittings are by Waterworks.
Everything was either too yellow or orange and rather than having the woods clash, I decided to do away with the idea even though I love the look.
